When Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny Dupree appointed a special council to propose a bar ordinance to City Council members, bar owners, students, and residents alike protested the ordinance. Oftentimes, sororities and fraternities on college campuses are known to be segregated and racially exclusive. However, women of all nationalities and color are welcome to rush any sorority they choose. Many sororities welcome diversity into their respected chapter with open arms. ”Greek Life is color blind” introduces readers to women of different cultural backgrounds who broke barriers and changed a social system into more than just black versus white.
